Southwest
The Southwest region of France is very much influenced by the Bordeaux region to the north and the Mediterranean influences to the east. The vineyards of Buzet experience a similar maritime climate as Bordeaux and therefore produce similar blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. They are often considered the great-value, step-childs of Bordeaux. Further south, Cahors produces wines so deeply-colored and powerful they are often described as black. Refreshing, aromatic whites flourish in Côtes de Gascogne from the Colombard and Ugni Blanc grapes.
